is a lifelong environmentalist. He founded, the Professional Sciences Master’s Program in Environmental Sciences, at California State University, Chico, CA and served as its director.He was Director at Biocompatible Plant Research Institute, California State University, Chico, CA consultant, Science Advisor and Research Director, Large farm with operations in Iowa, WY, and CA (certified organic); and professor at the University of Wyoming. Prior to his academic career, Professor Nishio was a US Park Service ranger naturalist, environmental educator, and teacher.
Nishio received his Ph.D. in Molecular and Physiological Plant Biology from, the University of California, Berkeley. He completed all the coursework for a Master’s in Environmental Education, at California State University, San Francisco, and he received his BA, in Biology from the, University of California, Santa Cruz.
